ABOUT BHS

Below Hair Studio has two locations located on the North East and & South West of Edmonton. Our talented North and South teams consist of stylists that focus on perfecting their craft by continuing education and mentorship programs to excel in their niche. We may be known more for our blonding and extension services, but we love all different colours, cuts, and styles!

BHS NORTH

Below Hair Studio North is nestled on the second floor of Royal Plaza; a small business centre hidden in the heart of 71st street's residential area. We have loved being located in such a family friendly area, with loads of walkways and lake views that are perfect for taking our salon dog, Kona, for her daily walks.

Parking

Due to the hustle and bustle of the many businesses within Royal Plaza, we do find that our parking lot can fill up fast. When arriving at your appointment please feel free to park behind the business plaza, in the residential area, if you are unable to find a spot in the parking lot. We recommend arriving 5 to 10 minutes early for your appointment if you are hoping to snag a spot in the parking lot, especially if your appointment is in the early to mid afternoon.


Getting Up Here

To access the salon, enter the lobby doors located on the right hand side of the pharmacy on the first floor. This will lead you to a set of stairs and an elevator to your right, which will take you to the second floor. You cannot miss us from there!

BHS SOUTH

Below Hair Studio is located in the heart of the southwest in the community of Ambleside. With its easy access from the Anthony Henday off the Rabbit Hill Road exit, along with it being surrounded by an upcoming & growing community, we immediately fell in love with this location and knew that it would be the perfect spot for Below Hair Studios’ second home. BHS SOUTH is set to open on the day of love! We hope that you check out our new digs on Tuesday, February 14th! Online booking for the south location is now open. Click which location on the top of the booking page and come hang!


Getting Here

Exit off the Anthony Henday taking the Rabbit hill exit. Turn right on Ellerslie, and we are located 30 seconds down on your right in the Ambleside West business park. You can’t miss our sign!

Parking is very accessible at the BHS Ambleside location.

Q: “How Much Will My Appointment Cost?”

A: Here at BHS, we pride ourselves in providing quality service through our talented Multi- Level Stylists, in order to accommodate any & all budgets. 

The cost of your service is determined by the type of service that is needed in order to get you your goal, along with what level of stylist you are seeing for your appointment. We are ready to get you to the hair you'll love while staying within the budget that works best for you.

Q: “I’m thinking about getting extensions, how much do they cost?”

A: Extensions are incredibly customizable to your hair needs and are not a one size fits all like they may have used to be. The cost of your extensions depends on whether you are looking to add fullness, length , or both fullness & length to your hair. The combination that you want will determine the amount of hair that you would need in order to achieve your hair goals. The cost also depends on the extension method that you chose to have installed, along with the hair type that will work best with your natural hair and lifestyle. 

In order to answer all of these questions & check off all of your boxes, BHS does request a mandatory extension consultation to gather all of this information, discuss your budget and send you home with an extension information pamphlet, containing your specific price quote and all need-to-knows discussed with your BHS stylist that day. If you have further questions about hair extensions and want to book in for a consultation, please give us a call or book online through our website.

Q: “I feel nervous to go with an Apprentice Level Stylist, But that is the budget that I am most comfortable sticking to. What should I do?”

A: The BHS team has adapted the standard practice of teamwork & collaboration among our stylists in order to bring your hair visions to life. No matter what level of stylist that you are seeing at your appointment, we will always be putting our heads together to share innovative techniques and tricks that our stylists may have up their sleeves for you. This is especially so for our apprentice stylists. 

Every step of your service with our apprentice is overseen by a senior or master stylist, in order to ensure all aspects of your appointment are being completed with the most excellent methods, to give you the best result. Our apprentice stylists are consistently practicing their acquired skills and must undergo evaluation, then receive approval to offer a specific service. We take these extra steps to ensure that you are in the best of hands! 

Whether it is through service repetition, mannequin work, or shadowing other stylists while performing a service, all of our talented stylists are constantly improving their skills to exceed your service expectations & hair needs. Our stylists are also required to stay up to date on the newest techniques & trends through constant, ongoing education.


Q: How is my Appointment Cost Calculated?

A: BHS separates your service cost into 2 sections;

1. Your Service Fee: This is the rate of which your service itself is priced at, and varies based on the type of service &  level of stylist that you choose.

2. Salon Scale Product Cost: Salon Scale is the hair industry’s newest way of pricing colour services, in order to accurately & fairly calculate the price of your service. 

We use smart scale technology that shows us the exact amount of product that we have used during your service, allowing us to calculate the appropriate cost of the product used. Your specific product cost is added onto your service fee, which is how the total cost of your service is determined. All services also include Canadian GST / TAX.


Q: “How can I ensure that I have my service done on the day or time that works best for me?”

A: We do recommend pre-booking your services in advance to make sure that your service time & date is the one that works best for you. 

We even advise that you pre- book your services before heading out the door when in the salon next. This ensures that you have an appointment date and time secure that works best for you, as our stylists typically do book 4-6 weeks in advance. Feel free to pre-book multiple appointments in advance, by phone or through our online booking service.


Q:What is your cancellation and no show policy?

At our salon, we value your time as well as ours, and understand that sometimes changes to your schedule are inevitable. To provide the best possible service to all of our clients, we kindly request a minimum of 48 hours' notice for appointment cancellations.

1. Appointment Cancellation: To cancel your appointment, please contact us directly via phone or email at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled time. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may result in a cancellation fee. This must be during business hours as we need to have time to fill the spot. 

2. Late Arrival: We aim to ensure that all clients receive their full allotted appointment time. If you anticipate being late, please inform us as soon as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate you. However, if you are more than 15 minutes late without notifying us, we may need to reschedule your appointment to a later time or another day, to avoid inconveniencing other clients.

3. No-show Policy:  A no-show is defined as missing your scheduled appointment without any prior notification. In the event of a no-show, you will be subject to a no-show fee of 100% of your scheduled service. After multiple instances of no-show, we may require pre-payment or a non-refundable booking fee for future appointments.

4. Cancellation Fee and No-Show Charges: The cancellation fee and no-show charges will be based on the booked service(s) and the time allocated for the appointment. The fee or charge will be communicated to you at the time of booking or during the cancellation process. In cases of unavoidable circumstances, such as sudden illness or emergencies, exceptions may be considered at management's discretion. No show appointments will result in a 100% charge of service. Last minute cancellation will result in up to 100% of the service charge pending if the appointment time can be filled and how long the service time was booked for.

5. Rescheduling: If you wish to reschedule your appointment, we appreciate you providing at least 48 hours' notice. Rescheduling within 48 hours of your appointment may be treated as a cancellation and may incur a cancellation fee. If your appointment spot can be filled, we may waive this fee at managers discretion.

We genuinely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to our salon cancellation policy. By providing us with ample notice, you allow us the opportunity to accommodate other clients in need of our services. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to serving you soon.


Q: “What if I don’t like my hair?”

A: Our goal at BHS is to always exceed your service expectations & give you the most positive hair experience possible. However, if those needs are in any way not met, please do not be shy & let us know so that we can help! BHS has a “Re-Do” Policy; if you are not completely satisfied with your new look, you can be booked back in with the stylist that you had seen for your service within 2 weeks of the original service.

We do not offer refunds on services. A refund would only be merited if there was irreparable damage to the integrity or overall health of the hair resulting in permanent, unchangeable and unimaginable damage. Luckily, we have never had to face that issue, and any concern you have with your new do’ can be rectified, phewph!

Re-Do services must be booked with the same stylist who performed your initial service. Please give us a call if you have any questions or concerns.  


Q: “Can I return a product that I purchased at BHS, even if it has already been opened?”

A: Absolutely. As long as the product was purchased within the last two weeks, and is still three quarters full,  feel free to bring it back into the salon & receive a salon credit for your next service or purchase at the salon. We want you to love your hair, which means also loving your hair products!
